In 2023, the No. 1 Central Document was released to promote the key work of rural revitalization in 2023

The 20th Central document to guide work related to agriculture, rural areas and farmers since the beginning of the 21st century was issued by Xinhua News Agency on Monday.

The document, titled "Opinions of the CPC Central Committee and The State Council on Completing the Key Work of Comprehensively Promoting Rural revitalization in 2023," has nine parts, including: We will intensify efforts to ensure stable production and supply of grain and important agricultural products, strengthen agricultural infrastructure, strengthen support for agricultural science and technology and equipment, consolidate and expand achievements in poverty alleviation, promote high-quality development of rural industries, expand channels for farmers to increase income and get rich, make solid progress in building livable, working and beautiful rural areas, improve the rural governance system under the leadership of Party organizations, and strengthen policy support and institutional innovation.

The document noted that the most arduous and onerous task in comprehensively building a modern socialist country still lies in rural areas. The world is accelerating the evolution of major changes unseen in a century. China's development has entered a period in which strategic opportunities, risks and challenges coexist, and uncertainties and unpredictable factors are on the rise. It is vital to uphold the basic agenda of agriculture, rural areas and farmers, and there is no room for mistakes. The CPC Central Committee believes that we must make solving the problems concerning agriculture, rural areas, and farmers the top priority in the Party's work, and mobilize the efforts of the whole Party and society to comprehensively promote rural revitalization and accelerate the modernization of agriculture and rural areas.

According to the document, the bottom line of ensuring food security and preventing the scale of poverty will be firmly maintained, and key work such as rural development, construction and governance will be steadily advanced to build an agricultural country and a livable, working and beautiful countryside.

We will make further progress in comprehensively promoting rural revitalization and make good progress in building China into an agricultural powerhouse.
