The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs deployed autumn grain machines to reduce losses

On September 18, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs held a video conference to implement the decision of the CPC Central Committee and The State Council on accelerating grain production without any let-up, and focusing on grain production "variety by variety, region by region, season by season and link by link". The reduction of machinery harvest as an important work of grain production mechanization grasp solid and fine, unremitting efforts to achieve a bumper harvest of autumn grain, to ensure the grain storage. Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Zhang Taolin attended the meeting and made a speech.

The meeting stressed that the bulk of grain production in autumn grain, machine harvest is the main way to harvest autumn grain. The main crops of autumn grain were maize and rice, and the harvest level exceeded 78 % and 93 % respectively. Under the circumstance that cultivated land resources are limited and it is difficult to increase the sown area, reducing the loss of machine harvest is an important way to increase grain production and ensure national food security. All provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) are the main battlefields of grain harvest reduction. We should firmly establish the awareness that "loss reduction is increase in production", give full play to the role of agricultural machinery operation team as the main force in agricultural production, seize farming time, prevent disasters and harvest, tap potential and make efforts to reduce the loss and waste of food production, and pay close attention to the quality of grain harvest operation.

The meeting required agricultural and rural departments at all levels to take the "three autumn" mechanized production and machinery loss reduction as the most important and urgent agricultural machinery work from a political height, strengthen emergency support, technical training and guidance services, and do everything possible to reduce losses in the autumn grain machinery harvest.

Zeng Yande, chief agronomist of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Director of the Department of Development Planning, presided over the meeting. The meeting also made arrangements for mechanized autumn and winter varieties and agricultural machinery safety production. Officials from the Agriculture and Rural departments of Heilongjiang, Henan, Anhui, Hunan, Sichuan and Shaanxi provinces made exchange speeches. Officials from the agriculture and rural departments of each province (autonomous region, municipality), Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and Beidahuang Agricultural Reclamation Group attended the meeting in the sub-hall.
