The Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress investigated the rectification work of the black and smelly river

On March 10, the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress organized some members, heads of working organizations and deputies of the municipal People's Congress to conduct an investigation on the rectification work of the city's black and smelly river. Zang Zhengjin, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, participated in the research.

During the fifth session of the 15th Municipal People's Congress held this year, Zhang Weiming, a representative of the Municipal People's Congress, submitted a motion to strengthen the assessment, evaluation and supervision of 109 black and smelly river renovation work, which was listed as this year's key motion. In order to better exercise the power of the People's Congress to supervise the important matters of the government and enhance the perceptual understanding of the deputies of the Municipal People's Congress, the research group went to Xuanwu, Jianye and Gulou districts successively to inspect the improvement of the northern section of the Inner Qinhuai River, the Yudai River, the Xiangyang River and the middle branch of the Inner Jinchuan River on the spot, and listened to the relevant situation of the Municipal Water Resources Bureau and the report on the handling of the motions of the Municipal People's Congress.

Up to now, preliminary work such as the approval of 109 river renovation projects has been completed, and construction of 35 has begun. The bidding work of the remaining river channels is being carried out, and it is expected to start in full before the end of March.

Zang Zhengjin pointed out that the black and smelly river has seriously affected the image of Nanjing city and the quality of life of residents. We should strengthen our understanding and enhance our confidence in overcoming difficulties. We should strengthen overall planning and steadily advance the rectification work. We should strengthen the supervision mechanism and improve the assessment method. The rectification work is both an uphill battle and a protracted one. Time is pressing and the task is arduous. The Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress will continue to follow up and pay close attention to this work, give full play to the participation and supervision role of deputies of the Municipal People's Congress, and ensure that this project of people's livelihood will achieve notable results.
