At present, there are 17 sewage treatment plants in the region, with a total design scale of 472,000 tons/day. By 2020, with the completion of the East Sewage Treatment Plant, the fourth phase of the Science Park Sewage Treatment Plant, the second phase of the Airport sewage treatment plant, the second phase of the Binjiang sewage treatment Plant and the second phase of the South District sewage treatment plant of the Development Zone, the sewage treatment capacity of the whole district will reach 800,000 tons/day, make up the historical debt of sewage treatment capacity, and the sewage collection rate of Jiangning area will be reduced to more than 90\%.

As the scale of urban construction in Jiangning continues to expand, the process of urbanization continues to accelerate, urban water consumption continues to increase, and the requirements for the safety of water supply and drainage are also getting higher and higher. In the past, in Jiangning Danyang, Hengxi, Lukou, Tongshan, Guli and other rural streets scattered 11 small sewage plants, local sewage treatment nearby. However, most of these small factories are funded by the streets and villages and run by socialized companies, with varying levels of operation.
