The main city sewage treatment plant will be the highest discharge

Xingang Sewage Treatment Plant upgrading project has passed the environmental impact assessment. This is one of the upgraded sewage treatment plants started in our city this year. According to the annual plan, the North sewage treatment Plant and Jiangxinzhou Sewage Treatment Plant, the largest sewage treatment plant in the main city, will be upgraded recently. Within this year, the discharge of the seven major sewage treatment plants in the main city will all reach Grade A, the highest level in China, and the sewage "digestion" level of Nanjing will be greatly improved.

At present, Xingang Sewage Treatment plant is located in Hengtong Avenue, Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone. The total investment of the renovation project is 40,821,600 yuan. Upon completion of the renovation, the plant's daily treatment capacity will be raised to 40,000 tons, and the treated water will be discharged into the Yangtze River via Xingwu Ditch to meet the Level 1 A standard of the Pollutant Discharge Standards for Urban Sewage Treatment Plants. The project has recently undergone a second environmental assessment.

Sewage treatment plant is the end of a city's water circulation system, sewage treatment "digestion" capacity directly related to the quality of Nanjing's water environment. In the past, sewage treatment plants have been on the list of environmental pollution cases regularly published by the ministry of Environmental Protection, punished because the treated water was still substandard. To upgrade the standard of sewage treatment plant is to make the wastewater treated by sewage treatment plant, total phosphorus, total nitrogen and other major pollutant indicators reach more environmental protection standards through process transformation. For example, after the standard is upgraded to Grade A, the total phosphorus content is reduced by half, the total nitrogen content is reduced by a quarter, and the chemical oxygen demand is reduced by 20\%.

Nanjing is carrying out the black smelly river improvement project, through the pollution interception to let the original discharge into the river sewage into the municipal pipe network, so that the city's sewage treatment capacity must be improved, so sewage treatment plant upgrading is also an essential link of urban water environment improvement. According to the plan made by the municipal government this year, the sewage treatment rate of the built-up area of our city should reach more than 95 %. In order to achieve this goal, a batch of sewage treatment plants will be upgraded.

At present, there are a total of 7 sewage treatment plants in the main urban area of our city, which are Chengbei Sewage treatment Plant, Jiangxinzhou sewage treatment plant, Xianlin sewage treatment plant, Chengdong sewage treatment plant, Tiebei sewage treatment plant, Chengnan sewage treatment Plant and Baguzhou sewage treatment Plant. The sewage treatment capacity of these 7 plants has accounted for 70 % of the whole city. Except for the Chengbei Sewage Treatment Plant and the Jiangxinzhou Sewage Treatment plant, the other five sewage treatment plants have all reached Grade A. According to the plan, in addition to the upgrading of sewage treatment plants in the main urban area, the park and the suburbs will also improve their sewage treatment capacity. Xingang Development Zone is the first to start the upgrading of sewage treatment plants in the park, and more park sewage treatment plants will join the upgrading.
