Nonghua River is located in Yuhua Street, Yuhuatai District, starting from Kazimen Street in the east to the entrance of Qinhuai New River in the south of Hongyun Avenue in the south, with a total length of 3.78 kilometers. Because many enterprises and public institutions, construction sites, catering venues and residential areas in the basin do not discharge standard, rain pollution pipes are connected in a disorderly way, domestic sewage straight into the river, over the years, Nonghua River and its three tributaries Baijia River, Zhujia River, Dingbian River become black and smelly river, water quality test results are "severe black and smelly", was included in this year's "national examination" river.

"Nonghua River is located in the window of Nanjing South Railway Station, the district committee, the district government attaches great importance to it, and requires it to become a boutique project, a highlight project." Yesterday morning, at the construction site of the river regulation engineering headquarters on the south side of Dingwall Road, several long-arm excavators were excavating the sedimentation tank in the open space next to the river channel and conducting preliminary dredging of the Zhujia River tributaries. Wang Liang introduced that the first step of the project is to build a new sewage interception pipeline, all the outlets into the municipal pipe network; In addition to the river sediment removal and ecological restoration projects, four storage ponds will be built, and a new pumping station with a diversion capacity of 90,000 tons will be built at the point where the Nonghua River enters the new estuary of Qinhuai River to provide water "bathing" for the river. At the same time, work will be carried out to create drainage areas within river basins that meet the standards, improve underground pipe networks, and ensure the elimination of sources of pollution.

In addition, the two sides of the Nonghua River will adapt to local conditions, to create a "corridor, three" along the river landscape: the river from north to south is divided into ecological leisure landscape style segment, colorful corridor landscape style belt, leisurely shade landscape style segment, the river banks will be planted with weeping willows, cedar and other varieties of trees and shrubs, with pro horizontal platform, landscape stone, showing a rich vegetation of the river landscape. At that time, this black and smelly river will become an ecological green corridor connecting commercial, traffic and residential areas of Nanjing South Railway Station.

It is reported that this year Yuhuatai District included in the renovation plan of a total of 24 black smelly river, accounting for the city's 109 river 22 %, the number in the first district. At present, all the river renovation projects are in full progress, the end of the month will be concentrated into the construction period; The establishment of 136 drainage areas and 19 flood control and disaster relief projects are also progressing.
