Black smell 14 years, clear pond finally see water green bank

"It has been black for 14 years, but it has finally been fixed." On the morning of January 1, residents of the Fontainebleau community in Qinhong Street, Qinhuai District, said happily that since they moved here 14 years ago, the clear water pond has only been clear for half a year. After that, it has become increasingly black and smelly. In summer, there are too many mosquitoes to open the Windows.

The clear pond that the residents praised is located in one of the 16 black and smelly river control zones in Qinhuai District in 2016. It is the center of the comprehensive improvement zone for the environment of the Clear pond, which covers 4.2 hectares from Longpan Middle Road in the west to Zhizhai Road in the south, along the Qinhuai River in the east and north. The water area of the clear pond is about 3.3 hectares, collecting the precipitation of the whole area. And bear the functions of flood drainage regulation and storage. Before the second half of last year, the clear water pond was cloudy, black and smelly, and the retaining wall of the river was reborn and damaged seriously. The surrounding areas, including Susoo Garden, Fontaineine Garden, and Baolu Xinyu, are densely populated with 1,200 households. They often complain that the river is black and smelly and the environment is dirty, but there has been no fundamental improvement in the past 14 years.

"This regulation not only for the river dredging and pollution, but also to do pumping station transformation, water ecological purification, environmental landscape enhancement and other water environment control projects." The Qinhuai District Chengguan (water) Bureau of the royal River Environmental Engineering Co., LTD., responsible for the regulation of the river channel, said that the whole river dredding engineering quantity is large, they used the silt stranded suction vessel to remove about 5000 cubic meters of sediment silt at the same time, also carried out the source control and pollution interception, from the source of the direct discharge of sewage river. Then water diversion and drainage, ecological restoration of the river, in the riverbed to plant aquatic grass, algae and insects to "eat" silt, so that the water has ecological self-cleaning function.

At present, the project has come to an end, clear pond water bank green scene. Before the Spring Festival, the surrounding residents can walk along the banks of the beautiful water pond.

Water environment governance and the implementation of long-term river management mechanism is the No.1 project of Qinhuai District in 2016. The project has strongly promoted the comprehensive improvement of 16 black and smelly river environment, and successively implemented the key improvement measures such as disafforestation, pollution intercept, silt removal, water diversion and ecological restoration. At the same time, it has promoted the construction of 52 drainage areas reaching the standard, greatly improving the overall water quality and landscape of the river in the district.

In 2017, the water environment management project will be promoted to the depth of the flood season to achieve the elimination of black and smelly river targets. At present, the coordinated implementation of relevant river pollution and silt interception, removal of illegal construction, blue line collection, rain and pollution diversion projects are being intensified.
