Nanjing will expand three sewage treatment plants this year

Sewage treatment plants are like urban "scuba", absorbing and purifying sewage. With the development of cities, the treatment capacity of these cities' "scuba" is increasingly saturated, and the transformation and expansion of sewage treatment plants have been put on the agenda. On June 18, Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment announced the environmental assessment of the first phase of the Chengbei-Tiebei sewage system connection project. The day before, Nanjing Chengnan sewage treatment plant expansion project full EIA publicity has just been released. Modern Express reporter noted that since this year, Nanjing sewage treatment plant expansion pace accelerated significantly. Nanjing has expanded its Tiebei, Chengnan and Qiaobei sewage treatment plants this year.

At present, there are six sewage treatment plants in the main urban area of Nanjing, including Jiangxinzhou, Chengbei, Tiebei and Chengnan, with a total treatment scale of 1.57 million tons per day. After the North Railway and South sewage treatment plants are completed and put into operation, the total sewage treatment scale of the main urban area will be expanded to 1.815 million tons per day. According to the EIA, the current daily treatment capacity of Chengnan Sewage Treatment plant is 50,000 cubic meters, mainly serving Banqiao and the southern part of Hexi. The planned expansion scale is 150,000 tons/day, and the total daily treatment scale will reach 200,000 tons in the future. The expansion will also realize the interconnection between the sewage treatment plants in the south of the city and Jiangxinzhou, sharing the pressure of sewage digestion for Jiangxinzhou sewage treatment plant in the future.

Nanjing plans to complete the expansion of the Qiaobei sewage treatment plant this year. Qiaobi Sewage Treatment Plant mainly serves the core area of Jiangbei New District. At present, Qiaobi sewage Treatment Plant has been running at full capacity or even overload, so it is urgent to start the expansion. It is expected that the total daily treatment capacity will reach 200,000 tons after the completion of the expansion.

Nanjing will also complete the expansion of the Tiebei sewage treatment plant in the north of the city. It is reported that the new sewage treatment capacity will become a strong helper of Jinchuan River pollution control. According to the environmental assessment of the first phase of the Chengbei-Tiebei Sewage System connection project, part of the sewage can be transferred to the third phase of the Tiebei Sewage Treatment Plant to share the treatment pressure of the current Chengbei Sewage treatment plant.

The expansion project will use advanced international facilities and processes such as deep-bed denitrification filters to further improve the quality of ex-factory water. The relevant personnel of Nanjing Water Group introduced that after the completion of the project, the main urban area and Jiangbei New District can not only realize the sewage collection, treatment and expansion, but also all the effluent is better than the first-class A standard, and the key indicators are basically up to the "quasi-four types of water" standard, which can be used for ecological water replenishment in the river.
