Bad V water bodies will be basically eliminated in the whole city this year

Recently, Nanjing Water Resources Bureau presented its 2019 "report card" and released its 2020 work goals and tasks. In 2019, Nanjing basically completed the improvement of 91 substandard V river channels, and built 65 small thousand-ton water purification stations. This year, the substandard V water bodies in the city will be basically eliminated, 33 river water environment improvement projects will be implemented, and the construction of a sewage treatment system will be vigorously promoted. Three water purification stations are expected to be built and put into operation in the first half of 2020, in Anjiang River, Nanshen in Gulou District, and Aotibei River in Jianye District.

In the key targets and tasks at the beginning of 2019, the Municipal Water Bureau put the overall promotion of 91 bad V water bodies treatment and consolidation of the city's black and smelly water bodies treatment effect on the first place. At present, the regulation of the 91 river channels has been basically completed, the regulation of the 10 city controlled tributaries into the river has been completed in 7, the city test 150 black and smelly water bodies have basically reached the "long system long clean".

In 2019, Nanjing made great progress in improving the efficiency of its sewage facilities. Nanjing has built 100 kilometers of new sewage network, renovated and expanded 14 sewage treatment plants, and built 65 thousand-ton small water purification stations, with an increased sewage treatment capacity of 235,000 tons per day.

In terms of water environment management in Nanjing in 2020, the national strategy of "Great Protection of the Yangtze River" will be strictly implemented, the detailed planning for the protection of the Yangtze River bank in Nanjing will be accelerated, and the clean-up and improvement of the utilization of the Yangtze River bank will be completed. We will consolidate the work of achieving water quality standards for key river intakes, and ensure that the water quality of the seven major river intakes and tributaries under provincial control in Nanjing meets the standards continuously and steadily. We will further improve measures to improve the quality of 10 municipally-controlled tributaries into the river, and eliminate the quality of water in sections classified as inferior and V.

At the same time, strengthen the reward and punishment incentive mechanism, according to the relevant measures to evaluate the completion of the annual construction task of water environment management, the water quality of rivers and lakes, the implementation of the "river chief system", the drainage management of four aspects of the content, reward and punishment. A total of 19 pipeline network renovation projects for five major sewage systems were carried out.
